THE mansion, a Dutch legacy on Jalan Pegangsaan Barat 16, in front of the Cikini railway station, Central Jakarta, looked gloomy, as if knowing that its owner, Soedarpo Sastrosatomo, had left it for good, Monday last week. Soedarpo passed away at Medistra Hospital, South Jakarta, at the age of 87. He could be dubbed “the last of the Mohicans,” the last remaining freedom fighter.
