THIS conversation took place moments before Hartono Mardjono's flight to Makassar. While preparing for his journey to Makassar, his wife, Suhartini Mardjono tried to persuade him to cancel his trip. Suhartini was apparently worried about her husband's health. Hartono responded: "With the permission of Allah, I'll be healthy. If anything does happen, I would like to die in the midst of the members of my community." And his wish was granted.
