Parliamentarians at the DPR and at the Jakarta DPRD have asked for a raise in their allowances, clearly showing their lack of empathy for the problems people face.

IN times of difficulty, the peoples representatives should think of solidarity and empathy with their constituents. But the demands of the House of Representatives (DPR) and the Jakarta Regional House of Representatives (DPRD) for an increase in their members allowances show, in fact, how unfeeling they really are. Not only that, the DPRs demand for a Rp10 million increase and the Jakarta DPRDs 50 percent raise, is clearly an injustice.
