In Purwakarta, Gus Dur was unceremoniously expelled from a multi-ethnic and religious seminar. This brutal action must be dealt with resolutely.

WHAT the radical Muslims have done is too much. Last week, in Purwakarta, West Java, the Indonesian Mujahidin Council, the Islam Defenders Front, the Forum of Muslims and the Hizbut Tajrir Indonesia broke up a multi-ethnic and religious seminar, when they expelled KH Abdurrahman Wahid, a respected Muslim cleric and one of the attendees, from the event. Hizbut Tahrir subsequently denied any involvementbut this came too late.
