Turkey’s presidential elections were postponed when the Armed Forces, unhappy with the candidate from the Islamic party, threatened to intervene.

THE strange panorama appearing on our television screens was like a dream. At a time when the world sees fundamentalist Islam as a tide threatening secular law and replacing it with Shari’a law, Turkey is moving in the opposite direction.
Of course the latest developments from Turkey are an unusual phenomena. It was unclear who was a fundamentalist and who was not when the Armed Forces made a special announcement just before Labor Day on May 1
