THE actions of Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati and her staff deserve support. The total reform program in the bureaucracy of the Finance Department has given hopes that the corruption existing for decades in the Department will finally be eradicated.

Initiated five years ago by Boediono—now Coordinating Minister for the Economy—the program moved into top gear after Sri Mulyani issued a policy statement on the reform package this year.
