IN the midst of the recent rise in commodity prices, the reduction of phone charges comes as something of a relief. Last month, through a Communication & Information Department Decree, the government reduced interconnection tariffs starting April 1. This policy is a breath of fresh air for Indonesians, who love to communicate by phone. This enthusiasm for cellphones is certain to increase because phone tariffs have fallen by 20 to 30 percent.
