Remember Kasifah. This is a message for the government, which is discussing the direct cash assistance program before launching it in June, at the same time as the increase in fuel prices.

The 86-year-old woman from the village of Karangsari, Banyuwangi, East Java died on the day the cash assistance was being distributed at the end of October 2005. Kasifah was only one of 19.1 million heads of families to receive assistance from the government.
