THE Indonesian Stock Exchange has plunged. The management of this institution had to suspend trading last Wednesday because of the intensity of the fall. The plan to reopen the exchange two days later was ominously canceled because of concerns the global fall in stock markets would cause panic. The public is beginning to ask: is this the first sign that the Indonesian economy is about to collapse?
