The two pairs of running mates who lost in the presidential election accepted the dismissal of their lawsuits by the Constitutional Court. It is a valuable lesson for democracy in Indonesia.

DESPITE being lengthy and tiring, thankfully the outcome of the presidential election finally obtained binding legal status. The Constitutional Court rejected all of the claims in the lawsuits filed by the presidential tickets of Jusuf Kalla-Wiranto and Megawati-Prabowo. It was already suspected that the victory of Yudhoyono-Boediono was forthcoming, but a national achievement reached in this election needs to be noted: the presidential election
