THE opening of the murder trial of suspended Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Chairman Antasari Azhar should have been an opportunity for the prosecution to launch its solid case. Yet this was not evident in the indictment read out at the South Jakarta District Court last Thursday. Instead, the impression it conveyed was that the charges had been intentionally watered down—either to let Antasari go free or for some other reason.
