THE “lizard versus crocodile” dispute has undergone an unforeseen polarization: “lizards versus all crocodiles”. In this drama, the “lizard” has grown into an icon and has become a figure of speech in the effort to prevent evil. Meanwhile, the “crocodile” now seems to represent “crocodile-ness,” an idiom that has never had positive connotations in most cultures around the world.
