The sentences given out to two prosecutors who stole ecstasy pills seem out of place. The team created by the Judicial Commission must be independent.

THE Judicial Commission’s establishment last Friday of a team to look into the judges’ verdict in the case of prosecutors Esther and Dara was a good move. But we should not cheer too soon because the public have long had little faith in this nation’s judicial system. Too many verdicts have turned out to go against the people’s sense of justice.
