THE idiotic state of affairs never changes: the police are left standing by criminals. Most recently, thefts of money via automated teller machines, reportedly to the tune of Rp6 billion, has been the work of a crime syndicate stealing money from ATMs owned by six national banks. The police have only just arrested members of the syndicate. Of 48 people thought to be members, the police have caught 37 of them.
