THE election laws clearly state that members of the General Elections Commission (KPU) must be neutral. This impartial stance has been explicitly reinforced by the ban on KPU members from joining political parties. Party members are not even allowed to apply for a job in the KPU if they have been a member of a political party in the last five years.
