IN remembering the mass killings of 1965, we must never forget to condemn the senseless acts carried out by the army against people accused of being supporters and sympathizers of the Indonesian Communist Party (PKI). At least 200,000 people were killedto quote a moderate estimateas a result of the bloodshed. Thousands of others ended up incarcerated in camps on remote Buru Island. Still others died alone in exile, overseas.
