A curse on those who moved the battlefield to civilian areas, like the terror attack on Jalan Thamrin in the heart of Jakarta last Thursday. The terrorists attacked a small police post and threw a homemade grenade at a busy caf, where scores of people were enjoying their coffee. Then, some of them blew themselves up.
The attack came as a major shock to everyone, mainly because the authorities claimednot too long agoto have neutralized a planned 'concert', terrorspeak for an assault, over the Christmas/New Year period. Counterterrorism special unit Detachment 88 has arrested more than 20 suspected militants in the previous three weeks.
