The false accusations and manipulation of information regarding the causes of the deaths of over 500 election workers would not have occurred if the General Elections Commission (KPU) had been prepared from the outset to explain the actual conditions in the field. Rather than be transparent about it, the KPU’s action of releasing the number of deaths without giving sufficient explanation only created more confusion.
