The ministry of education must immediately punish any lecturer guilty of sexual abuse at Riau University. The priority must be the protection of victims.

THE fact that the lecturer accused of sexual abuse of students at Riau University has not been punished is proof of the failure of the ministry of education, culture, research and technology to protect victims. The tardiness of the ministry in taking action against the perpetrator could add to the suffering of the victim struggling to come to terms with her trauma.
