Time Magazine's Asia Edition has billed folk singer Iwan Fals and novelist Pramoedya Ananta Toer as Asian heroes.

Iwan Fals whose real name is Virgiawan Listanto is a unique phenomenon. The Asia edition of Time magazine has picked the 40-year-old singer as a hero and put him on the cover of its special edition on Asian heroes. The accolade places him in the row of other Asian heroes such as Aung San Suu Kyi (Myanmar), Xanana Gusmao (East Timor), Omar Farooq (Kashmir) and Hamid Karzai (Afghanistan) all of them recognized for their political activities.
