THE Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P) should consider dropping the word "democratic" from the party's name. The word is too lofty for a party that has ignored the process of democracy in recent elections of provincial governors and district chiefs in many parts of the country. The party leadership has not only blocked grassroots aspirations, it has also intimidated party members in the provinces to bow to its wishes.
