WEAVERS in Pagatan have complained about material scarcity. Originally, according to Rahmah, Pagatan weavers used cotton yarn as material. “But the quality produced was inferior so we turned to silk yarn,” said Rahmah.
However, it’s very difficult to find silk yarn in South Kalimantan, forcing Pagatan craftspeople to bring in this material from Java, such as from Semarang and Surabaya.
