Economic growth continues to increase in Balikpapan with the public having easier access to facilities. Jakarta is studying the management format of Balikpapan Bay as a model ‘megapolitan’ city.

THE winner of the Adipura award has not been announced but the Mayor of Balikpapan in East Kalimantan, Imdaad Hamid, has already issued an apology to the public. He feels that Balikpapan will fail to win this year’s award. According to him, the city is left far behind in cleanliness ranking which assesses markets, dwellings, office blocks, and garbage dumpsites.
