PONTIANAK is known for its sweet, thin-skinned shiny oranges. The unique variety is largely grown in the districts of Sambas and Singkawang, West Kalimantan, not in the provincial capital of Pontianak. “It’s like having buffalo’s milk and calling it cow’s milk,” says Singkawang Mayor Hasan Karman.
