AFTER harpooning a lot of whales, Aloysius Tapoona rejected the government plan to include Sawu Sea in zone II, East Nusa Tenggara, in the Sawu Sea Conservation Zone. “Harpooning whales has been the tradition and livelihood of Lamalera people,” said the fisherman.
Previously, the government planned to name Sawu Sea a conservation zone. It was the government’s commitment to realize long-term marine conservation: 10 million hectares in 2010
