Newmont Halts Batu Hijau Mining Operations

PT Newmont Nusa Tenggara is temporarily halting its copper and gold mining operations at Batu Hijau, West Sumbawa. The mine walls collapsed on September 18-19.

“The mines experienced geo-technical failures on the west walls,” read the official statement on the website of Newmont Mining Corporation, Newmont Nusa Tenggara’s main business, on Tuesday.
