Afo, a rare clove variety from Ternate on the verge of extinction, is restored and is now being developed by the Ternate City administration. Soon, a third generation of Afo cloves will be released as prime seeds.

ARMED with an established popularity in North Maluku, the pop band AVU released their debut album in Jakarta last February. According to the group’s press release, their name was inspired by the hundred-year-old Afo clove (Syzygium aromaticum var. AFO) on the slopes of Mount Gamalama, Ternate Island.
