FOOD shortages hit East Nusa Tenggara again. Of 12 districts there, East Sumba and South-Central Timor were hardest hit.

Food shortage has repeatedly hit East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), but this year South-Central Timor, a relatively fertile area on the island of Timor, was also affected. Dr Gomer Liufeto, 55, a senior lecturer at Nusa Cendana University in Kupang has closely observed the recurrent food shortages in the area for the past few years.
