TORAJA tradition requires family members of the deceased to hold a celebration to honor the dead person called Rambu Solo. The aim is so that the soul of the departed may reach Heaven. The celebration usually lasts between one to seven days. Apart from slaughtering animals—in large numbers—as offerings, the ceremony also includes attractions of water buffalo fights and dancing.
