The Pasola cultural festival is inseparable from the colorful ornaments and paraphernalia worn by the riders and the spectators. The Sumba people, who regard this as a special annual event, come in their Sunday-best, traditionally speaking. "This event is usually an occasion for the people to show off their traditional costumes," said Rangga Mete, the tribal chief of the Mbukabani village in West Sumba.
