The Indonesian Coffee Festival will be held for the first time in Ubud, Bali, this September. Indonesia's reputation as the world's third biggest coffee exporter, rides on the unique luwak coffee. It is probably the only coffee bean that must first be ingested by the local musang, or civet, before it is harvested for processing. Luwak coffee is much richer in flavor than regular coffee. It is so highly valued that a cup of luwak espresso can cost as much as US$100 a cup in some places. Tempo English reports from the West Lampung village of Way Mengaku, where luwak coffee is the economic mainstay of its residents.

Liwa Luwak Fever
