A foundation in Pontianak empowers women by developing non-timber handicraft works. The effort has been successful in liberating many locals from the hands of middlemen.

Three glass cabinets and three shelves showcasing traditional handicrafts neatly line the living room of a house in Jalan Abdurahman Saleh, Pontianak. There are baskets, hampers and spice boxes made of pandan leaves and rattan.
