An NGO in West Kupang uses micro-loans to help recovered leprosy patients get back on their feet.

Odniel Tuan is one of the more successful residents of his hometown. The farmer and rancher from Oematlumo village on the island of Timor, East Nusa Tenggara, owns a dozen cows, six pigs and 17 acres of vegetable crops. Not many here have so much land or livestock.

Adam Timuli is doing well too. He has a hectare of land with rice and vegetables like tomatoes and cabbage. "This land can bring in about Rp20 million a year," Adam said.
