From School Buses to a Bylaw
The Pariaman Children's Forum led the city to provide school buses and create a city park. They take part in annual regional development consultations.

Three orange and red school buses revved their engines outside the Pariaman Office of Transportation and Communication in West Sumatra. The rumble could be heard from the highway nearby. The drivers and their assistants, all of them Transportation Office employees, would load up with young passengers in a few minutes before plying their five routes from the city to its outskirts, picking up students along the way and taking them home.

Three buses, three routes. The first bus would gather students of Pariaman's State Junior High School (SMPN) 8 and State Senior High School (SMAN) 6. The second would pick up kids from SMAN 5 and SMPN 6. The third would serve students of State Vocational High School (SMKN) 1 and SMPN 5. Each of these schools lie on routes the city does not cover. The buses would stop for primary school and kindergarten students waiting at 20 designated bus shelters.
