Maria Mullewas is a freelance photographer and accepts assignments for events in and around Kupang, the capital of the East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) Province. "One of my areas of focus is human-interest photography," the 30-year-old woman told Tempo. Maria, who was readying herself for a photo-hunting session, expertly tinkered with the settings of her Nikon 5100 DSLR cameraher first camera, purchased only two years ago.

Maria hasn't always been a skillful photographer. When she purchased her Nikon, Maria did not yet have the technical mastery she now has and was not sure where she could go to learn photography. Maria then heard from a cousin about Sekolah Musa (Musa School), that gives classes in photography free of charge. Her cousin attended the first class of Sekolah Musa when it was established in 2011.
