Some 30 people gaze intently at a giant screen at the Gudang Rupa caf in Bandar Lampung, Saturday evening three weeks ago. Usually, such a scene would mean soccer was on TV. But not this time. On this occasion, the audience was watching short movies.
The moviesPingitan ('Seclusion') and Lewat Sepertiga Malam ('After A Third of the Night') and otherswere shown for free by Klub Nonton, the local film community. Although projected onto a makeshift screen, the sound was of exceptional quality due to the room's soundproofing.
