The Archipelago String Festival held in East Java features traditional string music from different parts of the country. It is one of many ways to reintroduce traditional music to the youths.

THE opening of the second Festival Dawai Nusantara, or the Archipelago String Festival, was held on August 12 at Taman Krida Budaya in Malang, East Java. Members of the Malang Youth Orchestra opened the event by playing different string instruments such as the guitar, violin and bass. The national anthem and a traditional number, Bunga Seroja, entertained the audience.
