HER love for animals motivated Surachmi Setiyaningsih, a virus expert from the Bogor Institute of Agriculture's (IPB) Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, to devote her life into studying zoonotic diseases. A zoonotic disease is one that can spread between animals and humans, such as anthrax, rabies, and the avian flu. "It is important that we inform the public about how to prevent zoonoses," she said.
