Farmers in the East Luwu regency, South Sulawesi, are sustainably farming their cacao and freeing themselves from middlemen in the process.

After Asrul has finished his breakfast at around 7am, he’ll go to his family’s farm, either the one just a stone’s throw away from his house or another one located several kilometers away in the village of Peringin Jaya, East Luwu regency. He will then spend the whole day working in the field.
"But during peak harvest, we can stay up to two or three days in the field," said Asrul.
