Each night, Hermanto sets aside time to patrol beaches. The 43-year-old, known simply as Pak Tam, rides his motorcycle around beaches in the Paloh District, West Kalimantan. Tam covers over a dozen kilometers per night of Paloh’s over 100 kilometers of sandy beaches. Two weeks ago, on a Wednesday, he patrolled a 15-kilometer stretch.
