The Wehea Dayak's Thanksgiving Tradition

The Wehea Dayak held Lom Plai to celebrate the rice harvest. It is also to express their gratitude for the bounties of nature.

ON the third week of April, hundreds of villagers worked together to decorate the Wehea Dayak's customary village of Nehas Liah Bin in Muara Wahau, East Kutai, East Kalimantan. Decorations made from palm fronds and wood were placed on each side of the village path to enliven the Lom Plai celebration. "Lom Plai is an annual harvest festival only celebrated by the Wehea Dayak," said Ledjie Taq, the community's village elder.
