Five years on after the reformasi movement toppled the Suharto regime, historic moments continue to ripple through Indonesia's collective memory from the pictures taken by photojournalists. This is the strength of photography over film and video: it has a silence and absence of motion that urges the viewer to delve deep into layers of meaning, both from behind the pictures and from within.
