A blast shattered Hotel Omni Batavia in West Jakarta last Friday. According to witnesses, the blast originated from an ashtray located on the fifth floor. There were no casualties as at the time of the explosion the hotel was vacated for Friday prayers. According to Chief Detective of the Greater Jakarta Police, Sr. Supt. Harry Montolalu, the blast originated from explosive material and not firecrackers as previously assumed.
