INDONESIA is unlikely to have any time soon a teacher like John Keating, the art teacher in Dead Poets Society who taught high school students that tearing up books would teach them how to understand culture and stood on a table to teach them a different perspective. Or a lecturer like Katherine Watson in the film Mona Lisas Smile, who taught her students in the 1950s to oppose the tradition of restricting women.
Instead, Indonesia has Oemar Bakr
