Rising Violence in Aceh

Aceh has seen increasing violence following the signing of the humanitarian pause several months ago. More than 6,500 villagers from 10 villages in the Pidie district were forced to flee their homes when a local religious leader was found killed near his home recently. Teungku Syafi’i Amin, leader of the Muijatul Mujahidin Muslim boarding school, was taken and beaten by armed men at dawn, reported Amin’s wife.
