There are many ways to introduce Indonesia to the world. Degan Septoadji, better known as Chef Degan, 49, opts for highlighting Indonesia’s spices.
The chef uses the traditional Indonesian kitchen utensil to grind up his spices. Namely, "a mortar and pestle," he said at the Ministry of Education and Culture in Jakarta, as he performed a spicy rendang stew cooking demonstration, blending and crushing spices on a mortar for his audience.
