A Citizen Army and the ‘Military Caste’

A citizen army is a group of civilians with military capability but whose profession is not linked to the army. When the country is threatened, they are called up for active military duty. Or they are mobilized to overcome disasters and to provide protection for the people. They are separate from the regular army, whose members voluntarily chose the military profession and receive salaries and pension benefits from the country.
