EMANCIPATION comes from the unnamed.
I imagine this: when the Dutch viewed the shores of West Java from their ships, they saw figures, hairstyles, skin colors and dress of infinite variety. Then they stayed in that stifling, scorching harbor. An economy of familiarization took place: in their thinking, all of that humanity was ordered into neat differences. And then they gave them names.
So began the classification of the harbor’s inhabitants
