ENDE, Flores. Just a few meters from a shady breadfruit tree there is a statue. There on its pedestal, the statue attempts to depict the figure of Bung Karno who was exiled to Ende in 1933.
It is not impressive. The statue has yellowed in the climate, adding an impression of exhaustion to the entire surface. The body is thin, stretched to the sky, allowing a possible interpretation of a suffering Bung Karno still holding ideals.
