WHEN there are no police, and justice feels alien, the Watchmen appear. In the comic series by Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons, a group of super powerful people disguise themselves as vigilantes: saviors of the city from wickedness, the Republic from enemies, and even the world from Armageddon.
